After the Europan 8 competition, Kirkenes Municipality calls the awarded teams to implement their projects and to define a mid-term redevelopment plan for the civic center and harbour area.
The new proposal deepens the competition studies and shows possible development choices for the central area of Kirkenes.
The project has been discussed in many public meetings and workshops during 2006-2007

The Villa hosts the French school in Rome. It is a park of a very relevant historical and naturalistic importance which requires actions for its restoration and redevelopment.
The project has been based upon historical, environmental, landscape studies, and has been defined according to a deep knowledge of every building and open space history, transformation process and present state

A new volume on a small area, formerly occupied by a collapsed part of the old house, contains new stairs and services. A continuos glass detachment links different visuals from the wood on the rear hill to the valley below and solves the relation between the existing building and the new one

The commission shall give effect to the Convention between the Italian and the French State in 2005, aimed at determining the necessary actions for environmental restoration and landscape of the Villa, the maintenance of school activities and the promotion of initiatives and cultural projects.
The condition of the historic villa, hosted activities and relationships with the urban context, they define a role of great importance: as a historical system-environment overlooking the Villa Borghese to the Tiber, as a visual connection between the Aurelian Walls and the area Flaminia – Fine Arts, as the connection between cultural institutions and museums. The Villa will require an organic and systematic recovery is on open spaces that structures built on, and promotion of a conscious use of its historical value, environmental and urban development.
The restoration project has been organized according to different processes: framing urban and raised buoyancy current, historical and landscape studies and reconstruction of historical transformations, nature studies and identification of areas of greatest value and decay; surveys of buildings, reconstruction of the transformations main and verification with respect to the principal regulations, read the forecast planning, identification of actions for the rehabilitation, the predictions of structure and categories of intervention, deepening of knowledge and planning required.
The project examines both the open spaces and paths constructed in a systematic set of actions and interventions for the protection and regeneration:
free areas are subject to very little or no modifications, modest changes are planned for restoration or for situations already compromised by reconfiguring;
the different areas are subject to accessibility differentiated according to the different susceptibility to fruition. In particular, the areas north to Villa Giulia are subject to visits to the archaeological and natural heritage in accordance with the directions of the Superintendent;
interventions on the buildings and the categories of intervention are defined with the dual purpose of contributing to the recovery center and the redevelopment dell’edificato buoyancy, and to contribute to the recovery of the villa as a whole is to ensure the correct operation of school activities;
according to the values found are provided for different categories of intervention by the restoration, functional adaptations, the reconfiguration and renovations, demolitions and reconstructions, demolitions (in cases of deteriorated structures built and not used);
